Las Vegas Tile and Grout Cleaning - "Where NOT to put tile flooring..."

Travertine Stairwell
Las Vegas Tile and Grout Cleaning - "Where NOT to put tile flooring..." Ladies and Gentleman, often I walk in to homes to clean and seal tile and grout in kitchens, dining rooms, family rooms, laundry rooms, bathrooms, and more. There is one area where tile should not be laid and that would be stairs (whether up or down). The main reason is safety. Corners are sharp (as seen in photo) as well as the slipping which could be fatal. I personally cleaned and sealed these floors (above photo) at this residential home (which was absolutely beautiful) and slipped as Las Vegas Tile and Grout Cleaning Owner was cleaning these stairs and suffered a "mild" arm injury (have recovered since). We do get calls asking for recommendations about tile on stairwells, and my answer is always the same, NO. Wood would be the same problem (slipping) as well, however, a carpeted path my be your best bet and can be engineered over your existing hard surfaces. (As shown below)

Carpeted Stairwell - A brilliant idea!
One final note, upon leaving this particular Tile and Grout Cleaning job I stumbled out the front door and found another concrete stairwell leading us at the end of the driveway lined with Sago Palms in planters at "eye level"...Need I say more?

Concrete Stairwell - Unmarked disaster!

  4. For the newcomer to DIY there can often seem to be an overwhelming amount of things to get to grips with; not least of which being the sheer variety of tools now available off-the-shelf for use in the home. In this article we take a brief look at some of the most common tiling tools for use in all types of tiling projects such as tiling a floor or wall, laying mosaic tiles, and maintaining and repairing tiled surfaces.
