Tile and Grout Cleaning - Pitted Travertine!

Tile and Grout Cleaning on Pitted Travertine has gotta to be one of the most difficult tiles to keep clean! First of all, pitted travertine is a natural stone, it scratches very easy, as well as the "pits" get filled with dirt. Alot of folks ask if they should be filling these pits, and if your floors were like these (as pictured) my answer would be no. Sometimes this stone was picked for it's natural patterns. Travertine comes in many ways including, pitted, matted, honed, gloss, high-gloss, and more! In my professional opinion only fill travertine in areas that really "stick - out" or hurt (bare feet) when walking on. Try to keep socks on at all times, as these floors really do look beautiful when clean, and Ugly when dirty! Service is required annually for this material. Tile and Grout Cleaning plus Sealing - How Often Should I have Service?

"Perfect Example of of how often."

T
ile and Grout Cleaning plus Sealing clients often ask how often should I have service on my tile and grout? Under most circumstances tile and grout will get filthy dirty within a 12 month period due to family, pets, parties, etc. Cleaning and Sealing in my professional opinion should be annually. This keeps your floors "looking" beautiful, but also rids of germs and diseases whereas "carpet" hides these issues, and hard surfaces expose these conditions that have no where to hide. Tile and Grout Cleaning plus Sealing - Shower Tile Cleaning and More!

Tile and Grout Shower Tile Cleaning plus Sealing sometimes can be very difficult to get clean. The main reason why is due to soap scum, body oils, as well as hard water deposits! All three of these issues create haze and smears that are extremely difficult to remove. Most showers I see are the traditional 4x4 Dal Tile squares with unsanded grout joints and seem to lose consistency as the house gets older. Unsanded grout joints on the lower parts of the shower should be refilled with chalk (DAP) due to constant flow of water hitting the shower walls and is the main reason for crumbling grout by the shower basin. Mold and Mildew are also issues in the shower, and typically evolve from water getting behind the grout/tiles/chalk where areas need to have immediate attention before spreading occurs. Sometimes work is done too fast whereas it is critical of prep (dry surfaces vs. wet surfaces) as work from beginning to end must be completely dry and after finish completely no usage for at least 1 full day! Shower tile basins are also a problem especially man made material basins as grease and grime seem impossible to remove. Best solution for man-made material basins are stuff the drain w/rag or stopper and dump bottle or two of Clorax and let sit for at least 24 hours. Repeat if necessary. Tiled floors in showers in my professional opinion are the worst! These tile and grouted surfaces get all the end results of soap scum, body oils, foot funk, and more that when unattended to are near impossible to remove! Solution is to rinse shower tiled basin completely before stepping out each time. Natural Stone Surfaces in any shower whether on the walls or floors are the most difficult and besides just tile and grout cleaning plus sealing, stone surfaces may require stone restoration (diamond cutting) and is extremely expensive and most damaging material to care for! Especially material like travertine, marble, Mexican, and even granite which seems to get the worst haze and hard water film that is near permanent over time! Best possible surface I recommend inside showers are literally 4'x8' sheets of Cultured Marble which come in many designs and patterns, no grout lines, extremely easy care and easy to remove and replace in future! Where the edges of each corner meet is where one single high gloss chalk line exist. These surfaces look very modern as well!

Most important to note is Sealing of almost all surfaces in any shower as mentioned above will make products like soap, shampoo, body oils, and more roll down the shower walls and will not adhere so easily to the tile as well as the grout! Excellent service, if remodeling or buying a newly constructed house. Have this done prior to taking a shower. Usually last 2-4 Years or as clean as you keep it! Let sealer sit at least 24 hours before using that bath. Stay away from harsh chemicals in any shower stall w/exception of man made material basins.

Tile and Grout Cleaning - Perfect Floor for Kitchens and Entry's

Perfect floor for kitchens and Entry's especially when tile and grout cleaning is needed is another question asked especially in this Las Vegas Real Estate Market where people want to start redoing there floors and often wander what type of material is best and cleans the easiest. I usually refer them to ceramic and porcelain tiles mainly because after professionally cleaned and sealed, they always look new again. In addition to professional tile and grout cleaning on an annual basis, it is easier for homeowners to care for in a weekly fashion. Especially with family, kids, and pets (9 out of 10 homes I see). No doubt these floors get dirty fast, however lite service done by the homeowner/business, and heavy service by www.lasvegastileandgroutcleaning.com is certainly the way to go!

I look forward in hearing from all you and wish you the best of luck!

Tile and Grout Cleaning - Do it Yourselves Beware

Tile and Grout Cleaning Do it Yourselves beware of making your tile and grout look worse than it already is. My typical call normally states "I've tried everything to get my grout to get clean, and nothing seems to work". Typically as soon as I get to there house/business I ask what they are using to clean with and what chemicals? In almost every case, people are using products they just shouldn't be using. Avoid all chemicals at the store, friends remedy's, grandma & grandpa's vinegar, and more...These chemicals over time make your floors dirtier faster and sometimes permanently embed grease and grime into the grout itself. Before you ruin or create permanent damage to your floors visit www.lasvegastileandgroutcleaning.com and see what I can do for you!

Tile and Grout Sealing - How long before I can walk on it?

Tile and grout sealing question often asked is "how long before I can walk on it". After your floors have been cleaned and sealed the floors will appear dry in approximately 10-15 minutes and lite travel can be achieved as long as "socks" or "shoe-covers" are worn. The sealer used is "water-based" and leaves no imperfections, haze, smear, gloss, or change of any composition. Try to walk less the day of service on your "like-new" tile and grout as going to lunch or dinner immediately following is a good idea!
